Move-N: platform engineering for a senior living software company

Raven Studios works with Move-N, a senior living software company, on platform engineering and technical leadership. That includes .NET modernization, an AI analytics product in development, and Azure backup protection for 77 production databases with 15-minute log backups, so the data behind the platform stays safe.

The client

Move-N makes software for senior living operators. Its products run daily operations for communities, so the data behind them matters a lot and downtime is felt quickly.

We work with Move-N as an embedded engineer and technical lead, not a vendor handing over documents.

The problem

Production data needed dependable, tested cloud backup. Backups that exist on paper are not the same as backups you have restored from, and a platform serving senior living operators should not run on hope.

Around that sat the usual older-platform pressures: a codebase that needed a modernization path, and a wish to give customers better analytics than static reports.

What we did

  • Cloud backup. We designed and rolled out Azure backup protection across the production databases, set it to protect new databases automatically, and tested it.
  • Platform engineering. Hands-on work in the main platform codebase, plus release process and ticket triage.
  • .NET modernization. A step-by-step path from older .NET to current .NET that does not require stopping the product to rewrite it.
  • AI analytics. We are building an AI analytics product in development, from the data pipeline through the services that serve it.

Results

  • 77production databases protected by Azure backup
  • 15 minutesbetween log backups

Stack

Azure (SQL and backup), .NET, SQL Server, and the Move-N platform codebase.
